There are a few reasons why some local clients who have film prefer to deal with a Florida microfilm scanning business as opposed to an out-of-state or out-of-country solution. There is a percentage of clients that prefer to drop off film or to be within driving distance of their project. Some local government bids have strict requirements to award the project to a Florida microfilm scanning organization.

But by far the number one reason why Floridians prefer to use a Florida microfilm scanning company is fear of losing reels in the mail. A second reason is shipping costs. The irony is that the bulk of Generation Imaging’s clients are out-of-state. Hundreds of clients can’t be wrong about sending film in the mail via USPS, Fed-Ex, or UPS. G.I. Partners’ international customers use DHL.

So as you can see, two truths exists that seem to contradict each other. But the bottom line is that whether you are a Floridian seeking a Floria microfilm scanning solution or if you are not in Florida yet looking for a company to scan film, do not hesitate to contact Generation Imaging for a low price quote.

With so many websites calling themselves a scanning service bureau around the world, here are a few tell tale signs if you should consider moving on to partnering with Generation Imaging, instead of dealing with companies that frustrate you:

  1. If you don’t receive an e-mailed quote response back or phone call within the same weekday or- max 24 hours- more than likely the microfilm scanning company is simply a broker or e-mail collector. It could also be that their customer service rep doesn’t check e-mail or the company does not have a backup worker that checks e-mail.
  2. The company is unable or unwilling to furnish references upon request (in the microfilm scanning industry, many times clients require confidentiality, but a company still needs to have references).
  3. The company has no direct phone number. This usually means you are dealing with a middle-man.
  4. Up-charges- after you agree to a scanning price quote and send them the project, you get an e-mail indicating that the cost has doubled for some reason.
  5. Some companies use techno-babble to make a project sound harder than it really is. They are like auto-mechanics. I heard one company say they might have to charge more for a positive 16mm microfilm vs a negative 16mm microfilm, thinking I was some rube. Contact Generation Imaging if you feel that you are being taken advantage of from someone else- Damian Hospital and Dan Gandul are straight-shooters and have decades of experience with all types of microfilm, microfiche, and aperture cards.
  6. “I’ll call you back in 30 seconds”-…but they DON’T! When you actually get someone on the phone and ask them about the status of your microfilm project, you may hear a bunch of excuses why they can’t answer your simple question. Most of the time it’s because the company has no internal production organization…many Florida microfilm scanning companies are not known for their organizational skills. Dan and Damian have dealt with companies such as these and do not repeat their mistakes. Another time it occurs is when the person you are talking to isn’t even involved in the project (or is just a head-hunter), or it got subcontracted to someone else.
  7. The microfilm company balks at your request to visit their office. Most of the time it’s because they have no office.
  8. If you leave multiple phone call messages on an answering machine…still with no response…it’s time to move on to someone else, folks.

You know, I can go on and on about microfilm scanning companies. Just give Generation Imaging a try and see the refreshing difference- high quality at a low price for the new economy.
